Bourguignon les Morey lies on the frontier between the Haute Saône and the Haute Marne. It is located in the trans-boundary region between the Vosges and the Jura, in the river basins of the Saône and the Ognon. It is only a 35-minute drive from the beautiful fortified city of Langres, which lies in the Haute Marne region.
Archaeological finds reveal that the area of Bourguignon-les Morey was inhabited 4000 years before Christ. A small museum in the village shows exhibits excavated from the ancient site. A walk to these excavations is a must for every visitor just to experience the atmosphere!
The surroundings are extremely suitable for walks in the hilly landscape. The variety between woodlands and agricultural scenery and the many natural and beautiful open views are beneficial for a restful feeling. There are beautiful, peaceful walking routes surrounding the village where you can walk for miles in all peace and tranquillity.
The fact that this area is relatively unknown to tourists makes it possible to enjoy the quietness of the surrounding nature , ideal for nature lovers, bird watchers, botanists. The region is situated 450 kilometres from Calais so it is ideal for a short break to discover the area or for a week-end stay.
The Jura and the adjoining areas between the Jura and Voges have a lot to offer for the tourist who is looking for somewhere to get away from it all. The beautiful hilly landscape radiates an atmosphere of peace and quiet. There is an area to the north which has 1000 lakes; a beautiful place for leisure. Forty-five percent of the area is covered by forests. That together with the lakes and small rivers makes it a very attractive and particularly nice area to spend to some time. There are also lots of places of interest to visit and it has over 300 historical monuments.

Besançon is located just 50 minutes drive from Bourguignon les Morey. It has a very lively market, a beautiful cathedral with a unique and impressive clock, an old fortress which towers above the city - now housing a surprising zoo and all well worth a visit.
East of Besançon lies Gouffre de Poudrey: a grotto with the largest underground vault in France (a circumference of around 600 meters).
